I grew up in a different world from the cesspool we all seem to be swimming in these days. Then again, save for pandemic babies, we all did. None of us would have ever imagined that we’d spew our dirty little secrets on the internet, fight with our relatives over medical decisions, or come to view the news as a dangerous form of mind control. In short, this world is shit.
The past two years have sucked the life out of me, physically, mentally, and creatively. Sure, I’ve been freelancing and earning a buck here and there, but my passion for creating has been silenced.
Between the news, social media, strained grins from “friends” and the not-so-gentle push from politicians telling me how to live my life, I’ve had enough. My little nuclear family that appreciates traditional values, freedom, and privacy is the epitome of what those snarky CNN newcasters call “extreme.” And while I think those of us coming under scrutiny because of our beliefs should stand up and not allow society to push us out, I also think it’s important to carve out our own space where every statement isn’t called out and virtue signaled.
