Happy Pub Day to STIX!

The day is finally here!

Stix is available in print and ebook from every major retailer! I’ve been waiting—no, dreaming of this day since the story first nestled into my brain. I love every character, morsel of foreshadowing, and tiny nibble of dialogue. Pete and Iva came to life from a random suggestion from my husband one sunny day while we were driving along a backroad.

“You should take the old Leslie Lumber Camp and make it scary.”

I don’t know if he meant throw a monster in there, but that’s what I did, and I haven’t stopped loving the idea since. Some of the plot points came from real family stories he shared with me, including a grandmother that took care of the entire camp, delivered many of the babies, losing one of hers in that time. There was a grandfather that killed two men with an ax when a group of men from another family kidnapped said grandmother for two weeks. Upon arrival from Scotland, one of his ancestors even lived in a hollowed-out tree.

I did my best to change the characters, but I had to let some of the lore slide into STIX. It felt like a way to honor the history in my own way.

With that said, I hope readers enjoy the tale I’ve spun. Be on the lookout for part two of the STIX legend too.
