Hey, I subscribed and you fell off the earth

First of all, I apologize if you subscribed and expected to see meaningful posts about motherhood, parenting, or the state of the world. Things took a turn.

For the last couple of months, I’ve found myself pulled more toward fiction and finally committed to pursuing it (for real this time). You see, I turn 31 this year, and recently, I just woke up and said that I didn’t care what anyone thought or if people made fun of me. I’m a writer, no, an author and this is my dream. I’m going to do it, dammit.

But publishing requires money [insert strained “I’m okay” face]. I don’t want to traditionally publish, which means I don’t want an agent or a publishing house telling me what or how to write. Therefore, I need my own money for editing and cover art, among other things.

This brings me to the posts you may have seen me sharing excessively on Instagram and Facebook about this new thing called Kindle Vella. I get it. I’m probably getting annoying with those, but listen, I’ve kind of been doing pretty well on it. I mean, I made it to the first page of the horror section [gasp].

And for someone that wasn’t even sure anyone would read my work, that feels like a HUGE accomplishment. Now, you may be wondering what that has to do with money. Well, I’m getting paid for publishing on Kindle Vella [and not just pennies and dimes].

For all the likes, follows, and favorites, I get paid a monthly bonus. Any guesses as to what I plan to use mine for? Yeah, it’s going right back into my publishing fund so I can turn these little stories into books.

Is it ambitious? Maybe. Am I crazy? All writers are probably crazy. Should you stick around? I think so. You won’t get bogged down with publishing news or pleas to buy my book. You will, however, get to watch a stay-at-home thirty-something pursue a crazy dream that was shot down by years of negative self-talk.

And if you want to support my humble work as an author, you can find my stories here:

Sending all my love and appreciation to you all,

Breanna
